Beachwood Canyon is one of the oldest developments in Hollywood Hills. First developed in the 1920s, the neighborhood boasts a variety of architectural styles, including Mid-century Modern, Mediterranean, and French Normandy. Many call Beachwood Canyon home, including a range of wildlife, such as deer, rabbits, and coyotes. Views in the area’s upper parts can encompass downtown L.A., Hollywood Lake, and the San Fernando Valley. The quieter, rustic feel of Beachwood Canyon is part of the reason why there are many celebrity homes in Beachwood Canyon, such as Anna Kendrick, Andy Samberg, and Halsey.

The circa-1930s property has been fully renovated and is situated on a secluded cul-de-sac. The two-story home has three bedrooms and four bathrooms in 2,700 square feet of living space. With oak floors, high ceilings, and loads of natural light, the house also boasts a floor-to-ceiling stacked stone fireplace and a covered deck.
The Chateau
The Chateau is rumored to be built by Warner Bros. to provide housing for actresses under contract. Many creatives are said to have lived in the Chateau, including Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich, Anne Heche, John Cusack, Sean Penn, and Madonna. In addition, Marilyn Monroe lived in the building, which was one of the 43 residences she occupied. The Chateau was converted into condominiums in 1989. Each two-story unit is approximately 1,300 square feet and has two bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms. Much of the original architectural detailing was replaced with new flooring, a modern kitchen, and ceramic tile work. The unit is filled with natural light and southern exposures.

Moorcrest Estate
Moorcrest was originally built in 1921 as a part of the utopian Krotona Colony in Beachwood Canyon. Marie Russak Hotchener designed Moorcrest Estate and several other buildings for the Theosophist community, which was an occult movement originating in the 19th century. Krotona Colony was one of three important Theosophical centers in the United States during the early part of the 20th century. Moorcrest is considered one of her most famous designs.
The property is situated in the heart of the Hollywood Hills and is home to a gorgeous, light-flooded atrium and boasts a movie-set-worthy pool with a little man-made cave and stepping-stone path. The four-bedroom, six-bathroom home was restored to its full, multicultural, elaborate glory and features stained-glass windows, marble and copper baseboards, intricate mosaic tiles, custom cabinetry, and hand-painted frescos. It sits on nearly an acre of land and was purchased by actor Andy Samberg and musician Joanna Newson in 2014. Previously, actor Charlie Chaplin and Mary Astor, the star of The Maltese Falcon, also owned the property.
Moby’s castle-like compound
Boasting soaring views of downtown Los Angeles and the Hollywood sign, Moby’s castle-like compound is situated above Beachwood Canyon. The compound was built in 1927 by developer L. Milton Wolf and is known as Wolf’s Lair. The property covers 6,500 square feet of living space and has eight bedrooms, five bathrooms, a pool house, a guest house, turrets, and a secret tunnel. The pool house looks onto the hills, perfect for letting the sound of rustling grass into the space. One of the turrets is said to have housed the original owner’s pet monkey in the 1920s.
Moby and his landscape architect wanted the area between the main and guest houses to look like an overgrown garden in an Edward Gorey book. Moby converted the garage in the guest house into a recording studio. John Lautner restored the guest house in 1961, who was a protege of Frank Lloyd Wright. The property sits on three acres of land and boasts views of the Hollywood Reservoir and the Pacific Ocean.
